Cytechnos alerted me that status updates weren't showing up in the the main activity feed (only posts with links attached). This has been fixed.
The Activity Feed will need to be tweaked on an ongoing basis as more people join the site but I'll let you all know when and what changes get made.
Currently, anything people post will show in a logged in members activity feed and on the public feed. This will likely change to "friends only" for logged in members and for the public page, posts with the most likes (or upvotes).
