2. Tripod - having a heavier one can help when its windy. You don't want any movements. Sandbags help.
3. Camera. You'll want a camera that you can set to full manual mode for shutter and aperture and you'll want manual focus. Set to sraw or manual white balance. It's important to get a consistent exposure for all your shots. Sunset to night sky with stars are difficult because of the range of luminance and to get a good exposure for all of it you would need to change your exposure settings. I haven't had a chance to shoot that type yet so if you know of any good tutorials please share or I'll post up more later.
